Detailed “Description”: Luther’s Morning and Evening Prayers have been prayed for 500 years by Christian families and individuals. Putting words to music helps us to memorize them as well as give expression to those words.
Composer Notes: Luther’s Evening Prayer was first in the series Pastor Gullixson asked me to write. I modeled it after the style of The Lord’s Prayer chant in the Evangelical Lutheran Hymnary. Luther once remarked that “Music is a very fine art. The notes can make the words come alive.” It is my hope that the notes do so and only serve to point back to the text.
